Inskip Point and Eurimbula NP 2015

Our first trip as expedition 4LowDrive. It was to be a solo adventure with just me, my wife Kirsty and the 2 kids Jack and Maggie.

Our trip started by taking the track from Turkey Beach to Eurimbula NP. Its known to be hell on earth if you tackle it in the wet, but for us it was bone dry but there was clear evidence of major recoveries having been made in some of the large wallow pits. The ground looks to be bottomless clay so you just know there is little to no traction when its soaked from heavy rain.

Leaving Eurimbula we travelled through Agnes Water/1770, down through DeepWater NP, out through Bundy and onto Inskip Point.

The night before we left Eurimbula was when the sinkhole event occured at Inskip. As we moved into phone service we began receiving txt's from concerned friends inquring if we were ok. Once we read the news we understood what was going on. The largest ever recorded sinkhole at Inskip had opened up in the night swallowing a couple of 4wd's and a caravan and sending panic throughout the camp. It happened just after midnight so you could understand the campers reactions.

Anyway we camped one campground over from the sinkhole and had a wonderful time of it. It was the 2nd week of the September school holidays and we really did have plenty of room. In fact it was far more packled at Erimbula then Inskip.

We explored the Rainbow Beach area, fed the dolphins at Tin Can Bay, drove the Cooloola Way and Freshwater Creek tracks, had a few sneaky beers up at the Appollonian Hotel and gelato at Noosa.

This was to be our first use of our short stay tent. A 2 room Colmen Instant Up tent. I wasn't sure about it but it held up perfectly. Every single night of our stay we copped massive storms and the Colmen took it all and kept us bone dry.

The same could not be said of our shower/toilet tent. It was not to make the trip back home.

All in all we had a fantastic trip and would recommend it as a very kid friendly experience.
